Schools in Wellington's eastern suburbs have been warned after an older man took out a knife and pointed it a group of children

Schools in Wellington's eastern suburbs have been warned after an older man took out a knife and pointed it a group of children

Parents of students at Holy Cross School in Miramar recently received a letter about what happened.

Principal Tala Moemai says the incident involved students from a nearby school - and the children did not engage and called the police.

He says it's a good reminder for parents to speak with their children about stranger danger.

Police have confirmed they were called to Tio Tio Road at 4pm on Monday after reports of a person with a knife - but were unable to find anyone.
