Second nurse charged over video threatening Israeli patients posted online by influencer

NSW Police charge a second Bankstown Hospital worker, Ahmad Rashad Nadir, over a video posted online that made threats against Israeli patients.

NSW Police have charged a second Bankstown Hospital nurse over a video posted online that made threats against Israeli patients.

Police said 27-year-old Ahmad Rashad Nadir was arrested at Sutherland Police Station yesterday.

He has been charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass and offend and possessing a prohibited drug.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due in court later this month.

Another nurse in the video, Sarah Abu Lebdeh, was charged last month.

The video, which was posted online by an Israeli influencer, allegedly showed Mr Nadir saying he had sent Israeli patients who had turned up to the hospital to "Jehannam" (hell).

Ms Lebdeh allegedly bragged about refusing to treat Israeli patients and said she would kill them.

She was charged earlier this month with threatening violence to a group, using a carriage service to threaten to kill and using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

The video attracted widespread condemnation and both nurses were stood down by NSW Health as soon as they were identified.

Strike Force Pearl was set up in response to heightened community tensions in the wake of the October 7 2023 attacks in Israel and the conflict in Gaza.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said Strike Force Pearl detectives had now arrested 15 people and laid a total of 78 charges.

The task force was set up in December to respond to a spate of antisemitic attacks in Sydney.

"I must commend the work Strike Force Pearl detectives are doing to investigate, charge and put these individuals before the courts," Commissioner Webb said.
