A man who murdered while on leave from Christchurch's Hillmorton Hospital in 2022, has stripped naked during a court hearing

Zakariye Mohamed Hussein is serving a life sentence for the stabbing of a mother of four, as she walked home from a bus stop, in Sockburn.

He's also responsible for kidnapping a delivery driver at knifepoint and stabbing a council worker in 2012, and pouring hot coffee over the head of a hospital nurse.

The ODT reports he was appearing in the Dunedin District Court via video link from Auckland yesterday, for stabbing a prison officer with a pen, when he removed his clothing.

He was completely nude by the time the link to the prison was cut.
