The coroner's released their finding on the death of an experienced woodman who was fatally crushed by a falling tree

The coroner's released their finding on the death of an experienced woodman who was fatally crushed by a falling tree

Contractor Mihajlo Berislav Nikolic also known as Michael Barry Nikolic died in April just before his 73rd birthday.

He was found pinned beneath a large pine tree on a property in Auckland's Waitakere - four days after he was last seen at home.

Coroner Ian Telford deems the death accidental, with the tree possibly breaking at the roots because of the soft ground.

He says its a sobering reminder of the risks of one of the most dangerous forestry industry tasks.
