Open Justice reports Hayden Williams was sentenced in Manukau District Court on Friday after pleading guilty to driving and assault offences earlier this year.
The 24-year-old had got into a long argument with his sober driver girlfriend after drinking at a Christmas party in December 2023.
After she got out of the car, he got behind the wheel and deliberately plowed into the bus stop were the woman sat.
He fled, and then returned, hitting four bystanders who had gathered.
A 78-year-old was able to get out of the way, but had a stroke 20 minutes later - he died a few days after.
