A Lower Hutt woman was beaten unconscious by a group of youths, after she tried to point them out to police

A Lower Hutt woman was beaten unconscious by a group of youths, after she tried to point them out to police

The woman was the manager of Japan Mart on High Street on Saturday afternoon, and had followed the group of girls after calling the police and banning them from her shop.

She followed them into an indoor alleyway area containing several shops, when the girls turned around and began kicking and punching her - most of the attacks toward her head.

She says the police never came.

Hutt Valley Area Commander Inspector Wade Jennings says unclear details of the incident, combined with no available police units, meant officers didn't immediately attend.
