Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed a fatal assault outside a Napier nightclub, to come forward

Emergency services were called to West Quay in Ahuriri about 1am on Sunday where Andy Winitana was found unresponsive on the ground.

The 46-year-old has died in hospital, and a homicide investigation's been launched.

Further charges are being considered for a 21-year-old man, who's already appeared in Napier District Court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He's being held in custody until his next appearance in three weeks.
