Armed police and emergency services have swarmed a Christchurch street

Armed police and emergency services have swarmed a Christchurch street

Police confirm officers are at Bishopdale's Roydvale Ave - but aren't giving any details.

Herald photographer George Heard is at the scene...

He says armed officers are heading in and out of homes along the street, with ambulance officers on standby.

The road's cordoned off and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
