High hopes for a new forecasting tool to help farmers prepare for droughts

The system is expected to cost 200-thousand dollars, and will be funded through the Ministry for Primary Industries and NIWA.
It'll predict daily drought forecasts up to 35 days out and later look at predictions six months ahead.
Federated Farmers Spokesperson Chris Lewis, says a tool like this is needed.
He hopes it'll make difference to farmers livelihoods.
The system is expected to be available by the end of next year.
