The Secondary Principals' Association says consultation is the key for developing a NCEA qualification we're proud of

Education Minister Erica Stanford's, signalling big changes could be on the cards - including the potential to ditch NCEA level one all together.

It comes after a damning briefing in June, highlighted major problems around it's credibility.

Secondary Principals' Association President Louise Anaru, says there's a lot of work to do to ensure the qualification prepares all students for the future.

She says they want to ensure it's a robust qualification that caters to current learners that aren't being served well, especially Maori and Pacific students.
