National claims New Zealand will fall even further behind on the world stage, if Maori knowledge is taught as science at school

The Government's recent NCEA report proposes Maori knowledge - or "matauranga Maori" should be on par with its western counterpart.

The party's education spokesperson Paul Goldsmith says the Government's living in a fantasy world, if it thinks we can have the highest living standards without kids coming through who're able to foot it with the best in the world.

He says his only question is if we're falling off the pace in science - which international studies suggest... are these changes going to turn that decline?
