Legendary Kiwi jockey Opie Bosson has just announced his retirement from horse racing....saying it's the right time to move on

Last year the 44-year-old became just the eighth jockey to record 2000 wins in New Zealand.

Bosson's most memorable race was winning the Caulfield Cup on Mongolian Khan

The Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit won his first Group 1 race on Jezabeel in the 1998 Auckland Cup, aged just 17, and he's thanked all the owners, trainers and fans who have supported him over his 30-year career.
