A Dunedin pub's under fire for attempting to bypass alcohol licensing requirements, to provide food for patrons at all times

A Dunedin pub's under fire for attempting to bypass alcohol licensing requirements, to provide food for patrons at all times

A licence renewal application for Port Chamblers' Mackies Hotel, is being opposed by a licensing inspector and the medical officer of health.

The ODT reports the pub owner and operator Wayne Sefton claims the premises is surrounded by eating establishments

He says patrons are welcome to order food from the other eateries, but eat it on-site at Mackies.

The medical officer of health delegate has listed "serious compliance concerns" about the venue, including the lack of food offerings, and the tavern's duty manager not being on-site during trading hours.
