This year's Foodbank Project Christmas appeal has raised a record 150-thousand-dollars in its first week

Over 12-thousand-500 items have been donated to the online foodbank, run by Countdown and the Salvation Army.

Donations include more than two and a half tonnes of kumara and potatoes, 380 kilos of custard powder, 12-hundred pavlovas and 304 kilos of scorched almonds.

The Salvation Army says it's set to be their busiest Christmas yet -- with around 10-thousand food parcels expected to be distributed.

The appeal runs until December 12th and donations can be made in Countdown's or at foodbank dot org dot nz.
