A funding shortfall of 2.5 million dollars is being sought to build the new Clutha Community Hub

The new building is to replace the Balclutha War Memorial Hall at the eastern end of Clyde Street, along the Clutha River.

The pandemic, increased pressure on the construction industry, and inflation have all impacted the project.

Mayor Bryan Cadogan says despite the best efforts of those involved, they're now finding the project at a critical stage requiring additional funding.

Clutha District Council is exploring options and seeking public feedback on whether the shortfall could be funded from rates or investment returns.
