A 200-thousand dollar fine for an egg company whose worker's thumb was severed in 2020

The worker at Mainland Poultry Limited in South Auckland caught his hand while cleaning machinery .

WorkSafe's found management wasn't aware of the hazards of an open latch in the machinery ... and health and safety concerns were raised in an ad-hoc way.

The company has been sentenced in Papakura District Court, and also ordered to pay the victim 30-thousand dollars reparation.
