Jesse Tyler Ferguson is already thinking about having a second child

The 'Modern Family' actor and his husband Justin Mikita became proud first-time parents to a tot named Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita in July this year, and Jesse has said it’s “never too soon” to start thinking about giving Beckett a younger sibling

He explained: "It's never too soon, I guess. It feels like we're in the thick of it right now. The idea of starting the process again is a little intimidating. But, you know, if we want to do another one, I'm 45, so tick-tock - we gotta get this going if we're doing another one!”

And although he’d love to have another baby, Jesse is loving life as a father of one so far.

He added: "He's been pretty amazing. People are asking if I'm getting enough sleep, and he's actually sleeping through the night. I guess my expectation was that he wouldn't be this easy - I feel like I'm waiting.

"I said that and now I'm going to go home and it's going to be a nightmare for the next three months!"

The 45-year-old actor also explained he wishes he had gone through the process of having a child 10 years ago, but wanted to wait until Justin, 35, was in the right “timeline” to become a father.

Jesse said: "My husband's 10 years younger than me, so I sort of was waiting for his timeline to catch up with mine. I think I would have done this 10 years ago, but whatever, it's fine. Better late than never.”

The couple - who married in 2013 - have an “unspoken” bond when it comes to parenting duties, and Jesse says the process of splitting the workload has been “very natural”.

Speaking to People magazine, he said: "We can sense when the other one needs a break. It's been a very 50/50 thing. We don't really talk about it too much. It's just been very natural."
