Mariah Carey doesn't care if people mock her love of Christmas

The 51-year-old singer - who has nine-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon - loves everything about the festive season and doesn't get upset when others poke fun at her because of her passion for the holiday

She said: " I know it’s like ‘HA HA she loves Christmas', no I literally do...

"‘I know people are like ‘you love Christmas!’ and they make fun of me but it’s okay because I do. I actually do. It’s what I love."

The 'Fantasy' hitmaker explained her obsession with the holiday comes from being a "sad kid" who never had the dream family Christmas she always wanted when she was growing up.

Speaking to Naomi Campbell on her YouTube series 'No Filter with Naomi', she said: "I was a sad kid that wanted Christmas to be great. I wanted a real family that cared about me. I wanted them to care and I wanted them not to ruin it and they ruined it every year…"

Last year, Mariah's 1994 festive single 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' topped the Billboard 100 chart for the first time and she felt "at peace" when she heard the news.

She recalled: "I was looking at the Christmas tree and I felt at peace… an incredible moment.

"In the midst of all the new young artists that were happening at that moment it broke through and that’s the power of the song.

"Look it had been Number 1 on the Holiday Charts for years and years and I wasn’t focused on it but my lambs, my fans, the greatest people on earth, were so diligent about making it."

And when it comes to writing her festive tracks, it never feels like "work" to the star.

She said: "People are like, 'How do you write these classic Christmas songs?' Because it’s from a place that’s true. When it's Christmas, it’s not work."
