Chappell Roan fears fans are now "scared" of her after she complained about being bothered when out in public

The 27-year-old pop star previously opened up about the pressure of life in the spotlight - comparing fame to "an abusive ex-husband" - and she's now revealed her followers no longer approach her when she's out and about

During an appearance on the 'Call her Daddy' podcast, she explained: "I think people are scared of me. I think I made a big enough deal about not talking to me that people do not talk to me.

"That's, I think, the truth of it all, and I've been with people, like friends who are artists, and when they're with me, they're like: 'It's a force field around us. People don't come up to me if I'm with you.'

"I'm just like: 'Damn, baby. You say it too. You say, don't touch me, don't touch me. Don't look at me, don't touch me. I don't know who you are,' and they won't come up and bother you."

She went on to add: "It really hurts people 'cause they feel like it's me disrespecting them, that I owe it to them and that how dare I call it abuse or complaining about success ...

"I'm not complaining about success. I'm just complaining about creepy behavior. I love admiration. Everyone loves admiration.

"I just don't want you to interrupt me when I'm having a fight with my girlfriend. Don't be like: 'Can I get a photo?' when I'm crying, talking to my girlfriend? That's f****** crazy."

Chappell previously voiced her fears about being a celebrity in a candid interview with The Face magazine.

She said: "I feel like fame is just abusive. The vibe of this - stalking, talking s*** online, [people who] won't leave you alone, yelling at you in public - is the vibe of an abusive ex-husband.

"That's what it feels like. I didn't know it would feel this bad."

However, Chappell admitted she still loves getting positive feedback from her fans, adding: "Everyone's like, 'Oh yeah, she's really intense,' which, whatever, fine.

"But I don't very often get: 'Oh my God, you have such a good vibe.' I think that just stems back to childhood, of [wanting] people to believe that I'm a good person and me believing it, too. So it means a lot when I hear that.

"I can't read my DMs anymore, because I cry so much. But when people are like, 'Whatever you're doing, it helped me' - I don't think any award or any money or whatever can be exchanged for that compliment.

"I don't care about anything else, except giving space to people to be free. Because that's what I needed so bad: freedom."
