Ozzy Osbourne's producer has described his shock at the death of the rock icon

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the producer reflected on the Birmingham concert, Back to the Beginning, which took place on 5 July and said the last weeks of the singer's life now felt surreal.

Andrew added: "Everything was normal. And the next day the news was just a giant shock."

He described Ozzy's last show as "unbelievable".

Andrew said: "At this current moment, it feels like a dream sequence. The whole last month of his life feels like a dream. I had been in London working on a project, and going to the show and getting to Birmingham was amazing."

Ozzy's final performance, he said, resembled "heavy metal summer camp", bringing together figures from across the rocker's life.

Andrew recalled spending several hours with the Paranoid singer in his hotel room the night before the show.

He added: "He could see you in your good, your bad, and just in a way that you were - he was witchy like that. He often knew things that were gonna happen before they happened and just had an incredible sense."

Andrew had produced Ozzy's last two albums - Ordinary Man in 2020 and Patient Number 9 in 2022 - following the singer's accident in 2019.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Andrew said: "It was giving him a purpose when he didn't feel well and making him feel great and laugh and sing and dance and heal. Those two albums were incredible, and they, for me, are the reason why I'm here talking to you today."

Asked whether unreleased music from the sessions might surface, Andrew replied: "I can't talk about that!"

Ozzy rose to fame as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, pioneers of heavy metal with hits such as Paranoid and Iron Man.

Known as the "Prince of Darkness", he later enjoyed a solo career with albums like Blizzard of Ozz. Beyond music, he became a pop-culture figure through reality TV and collaborations, while his long marriage to Sharon anchored his turbulent, influential life.
