William, Prince of Wales, is a "big fan" of American Pie

The 43-year-old heir to the throne met Eugene Levy - who starred in the raunchy sex comedy film and its subsequent sequels - at Windsor Castle, Berkshire, South East England, and the royal gushed how much he loves the actor's work

Prince William told Eugene, 78, on the actor's Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler: "I heard you were in town, so I thought, why not get you over here?

"I was a big fan of your earlier films, Eugene, all of the American Pies.

"I'm afraid I was, I was of that generation."

The royal's revelation prompted Eugene - who played Noah Levenstein, also known as Jim's Dad, in American Pie's first movie, released in 1999, and also in its subsequent sequels - to ask who he watched the comedy-romance films with.

Prince William responded: "Lots of my friends."

The Prince of Wales appears in the season three episode, titled Living the Royal Life in the UK, of The Reluctant Traveler, and he took Eugene around the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.

Prince William spoke at length with Eugene, reflecting on his family's history, how "excited" he is to bring about "change" when he becomes king, and how "2024" was the "hardest year" of his life.

Last year, the heir to the throne was given the sad news that his 76-year-old father, King Charles, and his 43-year-old wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, were both diagnosed with and treated for cancer.

And following his wife's cancer diagnosis, Prince William - who has Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven year old Prince Louis with Princess Catherine - realised that the "rug can be pulled from under your feet" at "any point".

He told Eugene: "We've been very lucky; we hadn't had many illnesses in the family for a very long time. My grandparents [the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh] lived until they were in the high 90s.

"They were the vision of fitness, and stoicism, and resilience, if you like. So we've been very lucky as a family. But I think, when you suddenly realise that the rug, if you were the metaphorical rug, can be pulled from under your feet quite quick at any point.

"You maybe think to yourself, 'It won't happen to us, we'll be OK.'

"Because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you've got to be positive. But when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not great places."

Princess Catherine announced her undisclosed cancer diagnosis in March 2024, and she began chemotherapy treatment in February 2024, after cancerous cells were found in tissues removed during an operation at the London Clinic in January 2024.

She revealed in January 2025 that she was in remission.

King Charles' cancer diagnosis was announced in February 2024, and he has received treatment for an undisclosed form of the disease as an outpatient.
