Miley Cyrus uses "make-up as a microphone"

The 32-year-old pop star was recently announced as a global brand ambassador for Maybelline and she opened up about love of cosmetics at a launch party in Los Angeles on Friday (24.10.25) celebrating the company's new Moisturizing Serum Lipsticks - with the singer revealing she uses her make-up looks to express the theme of her music

According to PEOPLE, she told the crowd at the event: "You truly can't have Maybelline without Miley. It's kind of in the name ... [This] is such a timely partnership ...

"Everything in my life has happened in divine timing. Nothing could have happened before or after. Every moment was written in destiny and fate for me, and I think that this particular partnership could not have been at more beautifully impeccable timing.

"It feels very serendipitous. It feels kismet. It feels like something that I could have never designed or dreamed."

She went on to say: "[It is] such an important part of my artistry right now [to use make-up] in a way that expresses what I am trying to convey, whether that's in my music, my poetry, my words.

"I've always used make-up as a microphone ... to deeply express what I'm trying to convey through my lyrics."

Miley's partnership with Maybelline was announced in September, with the singer sharing an Instagram posted declaring she felt "honoured" to have been chosen to represent the brand.

She wrote: "Maybe She's Born with It. Maybe It's Maybelline. Maybelline New York has always been a part of my life. It's what is. What was. And what will be.

"It's iconic. Honored to be stepping in as the new face and voice of a brand I love. Together, we're celebrating the power of Maybe - because Maybe holds the power of possibilities. "

Miley has also rerecorded her own version of the brand's Maybe it's Maybelline jingle. In a later post on Instagram, she added: "I used to watch Maybelline commercials on TV and imagine myself as the face of the brand.

"Now, I've reimagined the iconic Maybe she's born with it, Maybe it's Maybelline jingle with a new song. Love you!"
