Jenna Ortega's style icon is Siouxsie Sioux

She told Grazia magazine: "Nina Hagen is a real inspiration.

"And Siouxsie Sioux, obviously. She's the coolest, the most effortless - I love everything about her and her presence, she's always been quite impactful for me."

The Wednesday star recalled becoming "obsessed" with make-up as a pre-teen, having grown up watching her sister getting ready for parties.

She said: "I'd be getting ready for bed and catch sight of her applying her make-up, her lipstick, putting in her earrings.

"As a pre-teen, I became obsessed with it because it made me feel feminine and grown up."

Jenna found make-up "changed" the way she felt about herself.

She said: "It changed the way I felt about myself, the way I carried myself.

"And as I've grown older, it's become less about playing dress-up and more about enhancing my features."

The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress is an ambassador for Dior, and she feels "very lucky" to work with the prestigious brand.

She said: "I've always had such respect and admiration for Dior.

"I feel very lucky to be part of it all."

Jenna appears playful and sassy in the new Rouge Dior on Stage lipstick campaign.

She noted: "It's about demonstrating the joy of wearing make-up."

And fronting that campaign felt authentic to the star.

She said: "I genuinely love a red lip and it is one of my favourite things about this Rouge Dior on Stage collection.

"I love 390 Redwood Star. There's something about it.

"It has a brownish tone to it. This is my perfect red."

Jenna's make-up artist, Nirvana Jalavand previously cited Siouxsie and screen legend Sophia Loren as inspirations for the actress' look in Wednesday.

Jalalvand told People magazine: "I created this double winged look with a bit of blank space [at the corners] to open up the eye and hark back to that goth classic wing.

"It helped the shape of the eye blend in nicely with the mask that she wears to give that raven look ...

"[I] looked at Siouxsie Sioux and at what street goths are doing with their make-up and reined it in for a softer goth version ... [as well as Sophia Loren who] always had an incredibly structured wing liner."
