Lewis Capaldi couldn't attract girls at school because he smelled of hot dogs

The 24-year-old singer has become one of the world's best-selling musicians in recent years, but during his school days, Lewis struggled to find a girlfriend because he walked around "smelling like a hot dog sweat"

He shared: "I wasn’t a lothario by any means. It wasn’t my reality.

"Anyone who has two hot dogs with mayonnaise on them for their lunch every day is never going to be a lothario … and walks around smelling like a hot dog sweat."

The 'Someone You Loved' hitmaker - who previously dated TV star Paige Turley - also admitted he's prone to "jump the gun" when it comes to romance.

Speaking to the 'Headliners' podcast, Lewis explained: "I’m quite on it. If someone sends me three kisses on a text, I’m like, ‘This is the one for me’. I don’t yearn to be in love, but I jump the gun quite a bit.

"It lends itself to writing good songs because you get your hopes up a bit. It’s good for songwriting because you can make mountains out of molehills in terms of the actual situation.

"If someone speaks to me in a nice way … I could fall in love right here."

Lewis - who released his debut album, 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent', in May last year - also confessed to being bad at reading signals.

He said: "I’m just a bit ... maybe I read signals wrong. I try to keep it to myself for as long as possible.

"If I’m feeling like, this could be the start of something, I probably won’t tell that person I think that until we’ve been dating for a year."
