Jennifer Aniston adopted her first dog after he appeared on Friends

The 56-year-old actress has recalled first meeting furry friend Norman as a puppy when he made a guest appearance on the beloved classic sitcom

She told The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: "Norman was on an episode of Friends. The one where Joey and Chandler babysit Ross' baby, Ben, and they left the baby on a bus.

"They leave the baby on the bus and they're running through New York City streets, trying to find the bus that they left the baby on.

"And you know how New York has these wonderful dog walkers with 20 dogs on leashes? Norman was one of those dogs."

Jennifer was already keen to adopt a dog, and she was able to take Norman - who was just one at the time - home with her.

She added: "I said to the animal trainers on the show, 'If there's ever a dog you want to give up for adoption, or a dog that is available for adoption, I'm looking.'

"They said, 'We do actually have a dog who we are going to retire because he's very stubborn, he doesn't do what we tell him and he never hits his mark.'

"So I retired him and he became mine."

Norman sadly died in 2011, but Jennifer - who has a Labrador called Lord Chesterfield and a Schnauzer mix called Clyde - has his name tattooed on her foot.

Meanwhile, the Morning Show star's new boyfriend Jim Curtis was spotted supporting her at the programme's fourth season premiere this week.

They didn't pose together on the red carpet, but the 49-year-old hypnotist was seen smiling on the sidelines.

appearance at the event came a few days after the former Friends star shared a series of photos from her summer fun, with fans speculating she did so to quietly confirm their relationship as one of the pictures included a sunset shot featuring the back of a man's head, which many thought was her new partner.

She captioned the post: "Thank you summer [sunshine, heart and prayer emojis] (sic)"

Jennifer - who hasn't publicly romanced anyone since her 2017 split from husband Justin Theroux - was first reported to be dating Jim in July after being set up by "mutual friends".
