Hannah Einbinder joked she had thought it was "cooler to lose" until she won her first Emmy Award on Sunday (14.09.25)

The 30-year-old actress took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series accolade on her fourth nomination and admitted having her name called out had turned out to be "punk rock" too

Taking to the stage at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, Hannah - who won ahead of Katheryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara (The Studio), Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear), and Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph of Abbott Elementary - said: "Wow, I'm thinking out loud here. I was just really, committed to the, like, personal narrative that I had that was actually, like, cooler to continue to lose.

"I was pretty committed that, had to be, right? But, this is cool too. This is also a punk rock.

"I want to thank the creators of Hacks - Paul Downs, Jen Statsky - or changing my life in every conceivable way, but not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family.

"I want to thank Jean Smart, who is like, the sun and I just get to stand in her warmth, and I also want to thank the cast and crew of Hacks."

After host Nate Bargatze had earlier pledged to donate $100,000 to the Boys + Girls Clubs of America but warned he would deduct $1,000 from the total for "every second" an acceptance speech went over 45 seconds, Hannah cost the charity over $10,000 but vowed to make up the shortfall.

She said: "Finally, I just wanna say - I'll pay the difference, sorry. Finally, I just wanna say finally, go Birds, F*** ICE and Free Palestine."

Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series went to Somebody Somewhere star Jeff Hiller, who was nominated alongside Ike Barinholtz (The Studio), Colman Domingo (The Four Seasons), Harrison Ford (Shrinking), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear), Michael Urie (Shrinking) and Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live).

He emotionally quipped: "I feel like I'm gonna cry because for the past 25 years I've been like, 'World, I wanna be an actor' and the world has been like 'Maybe computers'.

"I just want to say thank you to HBO for putting a show about sweaty, middle-aged people on the same network as the sexy teens of Euphoria."
