Jennifer Lawrence had to dance naked with Robert Pattinson on their new movie Die, My Love

The 35-year-old actress was challenged to do interpretive dance lessons by director Lynne Ramsay for her role alongside The Batman star in the black comedy-drama film and was taken aback when the pair were asked to perform in the buff on the first day of production

Speaking on Friday's (17.10.25) episode of The Graham Norton Show, Jennifer recalled: "Lynne Ramsay, the director, challenged us during rehearsals - Robert and I had to do interpretative dance lessons together.

"We both embarrass quite easily, and we didn't really know each other so it was totally humiliating.

"Then on the first day of filming she asked whether we remembered what we did and asked if we would do it naked!"

When other guests on the sofa - including Bruce Springsteen and Tessa Thompson - questioned her about it, Lawrence quipped: "Should I have said no? You all seem quite shocked."

Jennifer's acting work has slowed somewhat in recent years but she feels that the hiatus was necessary after she worked constantly during her 20s.

The Oscar-winning star - who has son Cy, three, and a second child born earlier this year whose name and gender have not been made public, with her husband Cooke Maroney - explained: "I needed some time out, I worked all through my 20s. I was at peace with the possibility of not being able to get back, but I thought it would be fine."

Lawrence explained in the interview that she was recommended for the role in Die, My Love by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese (who is a producer on the movie) after he had read Ariana Harwicz's novel of the same name at his book club.

The Hunger Games actress said: "Martin Scorsese brought this to us after he had read the book at his book club, which is adorable. He said I should play the character.

"When I read the book, I had a hard time imagining it as a movie, but I wasn't going to correct Marty!"

The Graham Norton Show is on BBC One on Friday from 10:40pm.
