Ariana Grande could make her debut on London's West End next year

The 32-year-old star has expressed a desire to return to the stage and it is rumoured that she could appear in a revival of the 1984 musical Sunday In The Park With George, which was last revived on the West End back in 2006.

If she lands the part, Ariana will be acting in the theatre production alongside her Wicked: For Good co-star Jonathan Bailey.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "The West End is renowned for landing major Hollywood stars. Sarah Jessica Parker, Tom Holland, Rachel Zegler and Nicole Scherzinger have all starred in shows.

"The demand is there to see these big names, despite the fact it sends the ticket prices soaring.

"Ariana has proven she has the acting chops to take on a stage role. Talks have been ongoing.

"The hope is a deal can be struck for her appear in the West End next year."

Ariana had suggested this week that she will be back on stage in the future - but in something unrelated to her pop career.

She told The New York Times newspaper: "It's not on Broadway, but it's something I'm very excited about and inspired by."

Grande has stressed that her music career isn't over, even as her profile grows in terms of acting.

The 32-year-old star said: "Of course, music will be in my life forever."

She added: "I have to say that for my fans who are reading this who are going to have a heart attack."

Despite her reassurance, Ariana previously revealed that she was close to quitting music prior to filming the 2024 movie Wicked, in which she played the role of Glinda.

Appearing on Shut Up Evan with Evan Ross Katz, she said: "[Playing Glinda] has done so much for Ariana. It has totally rearranged everything about my relationship to creating, you know.

"I didn't think I was going to make an album ever again when I left for London.

"That was kind of my secret, but I didn't think I was going to, you know."

The One Last Time hitmaker says Glinda's strong "self-belief" inspired her return to music.

She continued: "So I learned a lot from her as a character who learns so much over the course of these two films and has to look at herself in the mirror constantly and sort of peel away at the pieces of her that don't feel aligned. So I do think that I was kind of forced to do that alongside her."
