Toni Collette is an advocate for assisted dying

The Goodbye June actress thinks people should be allowed the "privilege" of letting go of their "experience on Earth" in the way that they want, instead of being "manipulated and controlled" by society.

She told The Guardian newspaper: "I think society in general likes to manipulate and control.

"And if you can't give someone the privilege of letting go of their experience on Earth with any kind of grace and space, then that's really f****** s***, isn't it? To be able to do it in the way that they want."

The 53-year-old actress believes the soul "lives forever" and life is just a "transient experience".

She said: "I'm a Scorpio. I have a very active, passionate, spiritual life and I think the problem with humanity is that we feel so disconnected from everything else. Not just people, but from nature. We are nature.

"I think the soul does live forever and this is a transient experience. None of us know, and that's why it's f****** marvellous."

Toni used to be "very, very angry" about the mystery of life but she's come to terms with it now.

She said: "I used to be very, very angry about the fact that our very existence is a mystery. It took a lot of time to work through it. Now I just think it's beautiful."

Earlier this year, Toni credited meditation for having changed her life.

She told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "I meditate. It's been life-changing.

"Meditation centres me. I find it makes every day so much better.

"I live in that space now and it's much easier."

The Mickey 17 actress has two children, Sage, 17, and Arlo, 14, with ex-husband Dave Galafassi, and just as she has learned so much from meditative practices, she learns a lot from her kids.

She explained: "I learn from them. I named by daughter Sage because I felt as though she was already teaching me in the womb and she has continued to do that."
