Hilary Duff has admitted she "intentionally" gatecrashed the premiere of her "childhood nemesis" Lindsay Lohan's movie Freaky Friday

The 38-year-old singer-and-actress and the Mean Girls star were infamously locked in a feud in the early 2000s, and Hilary has now looked back on some of their antics at the time and blamed her A Cinderella Story co-star Chad Michael Murray for her turning up to the red carpet event in 2003, because he was also in Freaky Friday.

Asked if she "intentionally" crashed the premiere, Hilary said on Call Her Daddy: "I think absolutely yes. I was a teenager...

"But also, Chad Michael Murray invited me. Why would he...I don't want to start any more stuff, but he was like, 'You should come with me.'

"And I was like, 'Mhm. Probably I should.' I mean, what was I, like sixteen? No, I was younger than that."

And Hilary admitted she wasn't at all surprised when Lindsay subsequently made an appearance at the premiere of her own film, Cheaper by the Dozen, later that year.

She laughed: "I mean, that was, like, my childhood feud, like my childhood nemesis.

"I'm sure my publicist will be like, what the f*** are you doing? But now it's so many years later. Like, who cares? It does not matter."

Hilary and Lindsay resolved their differences over a drink in a nightclub several years ago.

She said: "Lindsay came up to me at a club once and was like, 'Are we good?' And I was like, 'We're good.' She was like, 'Let's take a shot.' I'm like, 'Okay.' It was amazing."

The Younger actress - who has Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie, and Banks, seven, Mae, four, and 21-month-old Townes with spouse Matthew Koma - believes the drama between her and Lindsay stemmed from their overlapping relationships with the late Aaron Carter.

She said: "This is where all this stuff started. There was no social media to be like, who was dating who?

"You just take people's word for it and then people get mad at you. I mean if you're, like, Lindsay Lohan or me, he's, like, probably dating both of us, like, you know what I mean?"

Hilary first met Aaron - who she dated from 2001 to 2004 - at his birthday party with Amanda Bynes and the Olsen twins.

She recalled: "I met him there. There was, like, some cute sparks. And then I think I pitched the idea of having him come on [Lizzie McGuire]. He was so cute."

Aaron passed away in 2022 when he drowned in the bath while under the influence.
