Premium petrol's expected to be easier on the wallet for motorists later this year

Premium petrol's expected to be easier on the wallet for motorists later this year

The Government's acting on Commerce Commission recommendations to make petrol prices more reasonable.

Laws will be passed later this year to promote more wholesale competition, and change rules on petrol price displays.

AA Principal Advisor Mark Stockdale says displaying premium prices is likely to trigger cuts.

He says he predicts the premium price drop will happen sooner rather than later.
