Some promising news from Wellington's trouble-plagued Transmission Gully

Some promising news from Wellington's trouble-plagued Transmission Gully

NZTA says the motorway is now more than 85 percent complete and on track to open as planned next September.

It's good news for the 27 kilometre road that's faced several setbacks.

Originally supposed to have opened back in April, it's now the subject of a Government-ordered review.

And the total cost has climbed to 1.25 billion dollars after NZTA had to bail out contractors twice, due to extreme weather events, the Kaikoura earthquake and Covid-19.

Once open, around 25-thousand vehicles are expected to use the motorway every day.
