Australian para swimmer Alexa Leary is the Paralympic champion in the women's 100m freestyle S9 with a new world record.

Alexa Leary  has capped off a terrific day for Australia in Paris, winning gold in the women's 100m freestyle S9 in world record time.

Leary had broken the world record earlier in the day during her heat, before bettering her own mark in the final.

Earlier, Qian Yang claimed the women's singles WS10 title following a dominant performance in the gold medal match

Yang defeated Poland's Natalia Partyka in the final, 11-6, 11-9, 12-10.

Meanwhile, Australia won five medals in the para cycling road program on day seven.

Alistair Donohoe was the latest Australian to medal in the individual time trial events, picking up silver in the men's C5 race.

Lauren Parker (women's H1-3) and Meg Lemon (women's C4) also won silver, while Alana Forster (women's C5) and Darren Hicks (men's C2) both came away with bronze medals.
