Gondola-like vehicles could soon be the preferred public transport in our main cities

Gondola-like vehicles could soon be the preferred public transport in our main cities

Whoosh has been developed quietly in Christchurch over the last five years, and is described as a cross between an Uber and urban gondola.

The vehicles will travel on cables above traffic.

CEO Chris Allington says it aims to connect key locations like the airport and Christchurch's Te Kaha Stadium, and deliver routes to the hospital to free up car parks.

Whoosh will be trialled in Queenstown next year, before it's rolled out elsewhere.
