The Government is being urged to invest more in active modes of transport

The Government is being urged to invest more in active modes of transport

A University of Otago study's revealed policy submissions from seven motoring trade organisations, used similar advocacy tactics similar to the tobacco industry.

Cycling Action Network says New Zealand needs investment in public transport, walking and cycling, to improve mental and physical health.

Project manager Patrick Morgan says around one percent of our transport budget is spent on walking and cycling.

He says we're wasting money on expensive highways that deliver no value, and trapped us in a cycle of car dependence.
