    A growing number of fatal car chases could be behind a new police chopper trial in Christchurch


    The five-week Eagle helicopter trial launched this morning - the first time one's been based in the South Island.

    Police Commissioner Mike Bush says the chopper's been a great help managing road incidents in Auckland.

    He says police can't let the roads be ruled by lawless drivers - and they need to be held to account.
