    A person's been confirmed dead - after a car plunged off a bank on a notorious stretch of State Highway 2, at Tangoio, north of Eskdale and Napier, just before midday

    A person's been confirmed dead - after a car plunged off a bank on a notorious stretch of State Highway 2, at Tangoio, north of Eskdale and Napier, just before midday


    The sole occupant died at the scene - and the road's since reopened.

    This brings the holiday period road toll to two - after a man was struck by a car on Napier's McGrath Street late Boxing Day.
