Dunedin's copping a southerly blast, sweeping the lower South Island this morning

Dunedin's copping a southerly blast, sweeping the lower South Island this morning

Showers are falling as snow as low as 300 metres, and there are snow warnings for parts of Fiordland, Southland, Clutha and Central Otago.

Dunedin is in line for strong gales gusting to 100 kilometres an hour in exposed places this afternoon.

As much as 30 centimetres of snow will settle on the Milford Road.

Overnight snow landed on the alpine summits of the Lewis, Arthur's, Porters and Lindis passes -- and on Crown Range Road.
