A set of stairs thrashed by waves in Dunedin, is remaining closed while they're fixed up

A set of stairs thrashed by waves in Dunedin, is remaining closed while they're fixed up

The weather-beaten stairs providing access to St Clair Beach is currently under maintenance by Dunedin City Council.

Recent stormy weather and extremely high tides has resulted in more erosion problems.

Council's Transport Delivery Manager Ben Hogan says they'll re-open once repairs to the broken handrail and the re-setting of the paving stones, have been carried out.

Meanwhile, a new set of stairs providing access to the beach is under construction.
