Clean electric buses are on the way for Auckland's CBD

Clean electric buses are on the way for Auckland's CBD

Buses are one of six vehicle types welcome in the city's new Essential Vehicle Area on Queen Street between Wellesley and Wakefield streets.

That's essentially from the Civic to the Town Hall.

Planning Committee chair Councillor Chris Darby says Auckland is moving past the days of Queen Street being a congested, polluted drive-through, to a go-to destination.

He says they're progressively reducing the number of heavy polluting buses and bringing in electric and clean diesel buses on the CBD routes.
