Emergency crews and power companies are working hard to deal with the consequences of today's bad weather across the North Island

Emergency crews and power companies are working hard to deal with the consequences of today's bad weather across the North Island

In Northland, thousands are still in the dark, which could last up to three days in the remotest parts.

Auckland's Vector says it's restored power to 85 percent of customers knocked out by the storm - although it could take another day for some.

Auckland Emergency Management says it had 284 related-calls from late Wednesday to 3pm today.
