Unsettled weather conditions will continue into Easter weekend as popular holiday hotspots are cut off by road

Unsettled weather conditions will continue into Easter weekend as popular holiday hotspots are cut off by road

MetService says wind and rain should ease for Auckland and Northland today.

However, heavy rain warnings remain in place for Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and northern parts of Gisborne.

In Coromandel, multiple townships remain isolated by flooding that's closed part of State Highway 25.

Fire and Emergency rescued someone from their vehicle as floodwaters rose on the highway shortly before 9pm.

Meanwhile, Top Energy says some homes in Northland could be without power for days.

Far North Mayor Moko Tepania says crews are doing their best.

He's telling people to sit tight as it's not exactly clear when the power will be back on for the whole district.
