Wetter, windier weather is moving up the South Island

Wetter, windier weather is moving up the South Island

MetService has issued heavy rain warnings covering northern Fiordland and Westland ranges.

Wind Watches stretch from Southland to the Canterbury High Country with strongest winds expected on the other side of the Southern Alps .

For the North Island, showers feed into Bay of Plenty and Coromandel, but elsewhere remains fine.

Meteorologist John Law says - wetter weather is expected again tomorrow.

He says - there's a risk of possibly thundery falls across the western side of the North Island tomorrow, so more warnings will be issued over the coming days.
