More wet weather is set to slam the upper South Island as recovery continues from the last storm

More wet weather is set to slam the upper South Island as recovery continues from the last storm

Orange heavy rain warnings are in place for Nelson, Tasman, northwest Marlborough and Westland from the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Forecaster Heather Keats says there's a moderate chance these warnings will be upgraded to red.

She says red is some of the worst weather you can expect and is a collaborative decision made with emergency response teams and council on the ground.

An array of strong winds and rain is also expected across the North Island, starting from the end of today.
