Bay of Plenty residents have been jolted awake this morning, with a 5.3 magnitude earthquake hitting just after half past five

Geonet reports the quake struck 115-kilometres deep, at sea, about 50-kilometres north-west of Te Kaha.
It woke up lots of people - with more than five-thousand Kiwis reporting feeling the shake within half-an-hour.
