Vector has extra crews on standby in Auckland for any power outages caused by bad weather

MetService has issued severe weather watches around the country, with strong winds and rain expected.

Vector's Marko Simunac says storm management teams are ready to respond.

He says in weather like this, it's possible for wind gusts or vegetation and debris to damage power lines - and there's an increased chance of cars colliding with power poles.
