    A severe weather warning has been issued for the Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury Plains


    MetService says a front is forecast to move slowly southwards across the east coast of the South Island today and tomorrow, delivering a period of rain.

    Heavy falls are likely on the Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury.
