Further heavy rain is expected for parts of the country today, prompting another weather warning

MetService says the rain will be heavy for western parts of southern and central New Zealand and there'll be northwest gales for the Canterbury High country.

The front that's currently moving over the South Island is also expected to bring heavy rain to the Tararua Range, Mount Taranaki and Tongariro National Park.
