Watercare has designed a visual tool to help Aucklanders monitor their water use

Similar to fire warning signs in rural areas - it shows whether Auckland's water use is in a safe zone or too high.

Aucklanders can expect to see the monitor pop up online or in physical advertisements around the region.

Today, Auckland's dams are more than 23 per cent lower than the historical average for this time of year.
