The Mountain Safety Council is urging people to stay away from dangerous avalanche terrain across the South Island

Warnings are in place for areas such as Aoraki Mount Cook, Ohau, Fiordland and Nelson Lakes.
Chief Executive Mike Daisley says it follows a snow dump of up to 60 centimetres in the South Island.
He says that on top of a large snow pack has created this avalanche risk.
